UK:RESISTANCE 'main page'
PS3 managed to sell even fewer units in Japan last week than the week before. AGAIN. The god of statistics has smiled on us once more.
JAPANESE HARDWARE SALES, WEEK ENDING OCTOBER 26

PSP: 60,467
Wii: 24,292
DS: 22,965
360: 7,844
PS2: 6,962
PS3: 3,931

ANALYSIS
To put this into context, 3,931 PlayStation3s is enough PlayStation3s to fit inside the boot of a Peugeot 306 estate, or enough PlayStation3s to completely fill an average household chest freezer. Today's global news agenda set, as always, by NeoGAF.

Meanwhile, PSP sells almost as much as all other consoles combined.

It's because their houses are too small!

Fuck me. PS3 is the new Dreamcast. Does this mean I'm going to have to buy one now and say I love it on the internet for the next decade?

Joyous. I live for Fridays. But when the PS3 price cut boosts sales to about 11k next week, will this feature be conveniently forgotten about?
Blogger Cmdr_Zorg said...
Yes, it will be conveniently forgotten about when it has served its purpose.

Hey Zorg, do you remember when UK:R was good?

No, neither do I.

Sony thinks that people actually like PSPs but the truth is that they're SO EASY to emulate crap on. Pirates are unintentionally helping Sony!
Blogger Multiverse said...
Well, if Sony are selling PSPs at a stupidly high loss, like they do with the PS3, then the pirates are actually plundering Sony's rectal cavity faster than Sony can shit themselves at their current dire financial situation.

Avast!

I can only ever remember UKR being exactly like this, a patented blend of mediocrity aimed at precisely no demographics whatsoever. The only thing that's changed is the chairs I've sat on and the walls I've been staring at and how much RAM my PC's got in it.

Why is the PSP doing so well? Is there a game out for it now, or what? Should I get mine out from under the bed, charge it up, and pretend I'm one of the cool kids?

I wouldn't take the opinions of anonymouses to heart, Zorg.

It's the internet equivalent of dialling 141 before a number and doing a crank call.

How much ram IS in the pc? 500 rams?
Blogger AT said...
Exactly, bilal.

At least when I have a moan, I go to the trouble of signing in/registering.

:)

500 rams? Ewe must be joking!

Seems like the 360's starting to make (small) inroads into the Japanese market - I wonder what gives?

p.s. Fuck off Anonymous.

PSP is only doin so well cause the new version hit japan last week, expect normal service to resume shortly. I think they dont see the screen issues as much as the west...maybe scan lines dont affect asians...or perhaps theyll just buy any old shite as long as its new.

"500 rams? Ewe must be joking!"

Flock off, I've herd that one before.

FLOCKIN' HELL! (father ted)

My cousin showed me a laptop she wanted for uni and asked me 'how much pentinum is it?'.

I'd love to go into PC World and ask them that very question, but I'm too ashamed to go to PC World.

Be strong, bilal. It is worth the laugh!

Also, the comments on these LOL PS3 SALES threads are always so much more entertaining than the actual article...

I don't know whether to knock a triumphant/angry one out in honour of the utterly shite PS3 sales figures, or have a happy wank at the thought of those plush Amy dolls.

What a dilemma. I'll probably just smoke a pipe and read private eye in bed.

You've ruined self abuse Fridays Zorg by posting something else which is actually interesting/ mildly arousing. The best I can hope for is a wet dream where 100 24" plush Amy's rip my clothes off and girls aloud chuck their new fangled lime green DS's in the bin and crack open the baby oil... hmmm ... just hope Tails doesn't creep into my dream or I may go off the boil.

Japs buy the PSP because of the 3000 model and for warez. Here's some proof:

PS3 million sellers numbers: http://vgchartz.com/worldtotals.php?name=&console=PS3&publisher=&sort=Total

PSP million sellers numbers: http://vgchartz.com/worldtotals.php?name=&console=PSP&publisher=&sort=Total

While the PS3 registers some 36~37 million games with a 16.22 million system install base, PSP registers approximately 40 million games with a 40 million system install base, and this is considering games that managed to sell a million or more units only.

Conclusion: people don't buy PSP systems for (buying and) playing games, or do so in an even poorer proportion than the "OMG 599.99 D0LLARZ!!1111!" Blu-ray player.
