We want to COLLECT BANANAS FROM MAGIC CASTLES not earn respect from fictional gang leaders! We want to stun enemies with BOUNCE ATTACKS, not shoot them in unrealistic and shoddy drive-bys!
We want to restore our health by COLLECTING ROAST CHICKEN, not by syringing drugs into the only vein we can still find! Games have gone SHIT and DARK and RUBBISH and WE WANT THEM BACK!
We want music that goes PLINKY-PLINK AND DOOPY-DOO not "motherfucking west coast mother fucker, y'all"! We want to fight WEIRD MONSTERS not drug-dealing criminals!

- Make everything happen at midday or sunset.
- Replace gun textures with banana textures.
- Turn all cars into pink convertibles that wobble and only do 15mph.
- If you get 100 of anything, a little tune plays.
- Instead of saying "crew" say "your buddies".
- Instead of saying "hood" say "zone".
- Make the female characters something other than prostitutes.
- Make the black characters something other than drug dealers.

Maybe if you guys stepped outside you'd realize there's a real sky out there and you don't have to waste your time creating pages like this to "get it back".
It's one thing to be tongue-in-cheek with the sky reference, but the racial discrimination and stereotyping is a far more serious issue that deserves an honest discussion - not to be shoved in next to this "blue sky" tagline as a simple joke.
I'm not deriding you for mentioning those issues, it's just that they are far more socially responsible fronts and have more transposition to the real world than the atmospheric palette.

prostyle: I'm surprised you can't see the genuine concerns shining through here. I think the remarks concerning race here are quite genuinely intended.. Even if it's more or less presented as a joke I think this is actually a serious issue and that thje author sees this. I am certainly tired of the "gritty and realistic" (read: morally ambiguous, violent and unhappy) approach to gaming, how many times do we need to see the same negative stuff repeated?
While I agree to some extent, you could always, you know, buy a Nintendo console and play their games.
They still have plenty of the brightly coloured addictive type video games. Where games are still games.

dark knight: I wasn't implying that they weren't genuine, if you read my original post you will see that I consider them to be very important issues.
I just think they are presented in an unfair fashion by being relegated to a sub-issue of the atmospheric color or effects; when it is obvious to most of us that they are far more important and socially responsible issues than the color of the sky.

Is this guy seriously this dense? The site isn't trying to force us to put blue skys and happy things in games again. They're only encouraging it. Myself, as a developer and hardcore gamer, only half agree with this. The main thing that would hold this back is most people in the world want violent games or more realistic games. Games with bright colors tend to be more childish. For some games, the happy theme fits nicely, but for others it just won't work.

1.replace the term "mixed-race gangsters" with "stereotyped gangsters" or "racially stereotyped gangsters".
