UK:RESISTANCE 'main page'
So we might as well. He's a Sonic CD owner, and Sonic CD owners are fucking cool dudes. And he has two Dreamcasts. Say no more. He's in the Super Cool Dude Gamer Club and has earned a special favour.

The auction is here. He's used his duvet as a plain background. It's not a world-beater in terms of size or content, but it is definitely slightly above average in terms of what most people have accumulated thanks to having a Mega CD and a Menacer.

IF YOU ALSO OWN SONIC CD
Let us know. It's about time we did a census of all UK Sonic CD owners, so they can be put on the Special List of people that will be excused suffering come the END OF TIME.

If I'm a UK resident who happens to have a Japanese Sonic CD (for Mega CD, naturally, not the wank Windows version with all it's problems), does that count?
Anonymous JH said...
I've had Sonic CD on my shelf for years. It's a loan I've not got around to giving back.

It's not as good as Sonic 2. Fact!
Anonymous dizzy said...
Does it count if you've got it on the Sonic Gems Collection? I never owned a Mega CD for my Megadrive.

I own 4 versions of Sonic CD (bought in reverse release order, the Japanese MCD version turned out to be the best one) and the Sonic the Hedgehog - remix CD (which consists of SCD remixes), surely I must be WAY PAST COOL. I'm not British though, but Germany should be close enough to still be cool.

I own the PC version with the big box, another pc version that came with Sonic & Knuckles collection, je PAL mega CD version and a sealed, as new, Pal Mega cd version. I've sent you an e-mail with some pictures.

ARBITRATION SESSION:

Japanese version: Counts.

Sonic Gems version: Doesn't count as it has the US soundtrack and is therefore only half as good.

Stolen loan version: Doesn't count, as love not backed up by financial outlay.

Multiple versions: DEFINITELY count.

i had two dreamcasts because the fist one broke, then the second broke too. When the discs wouldnt load i put the dreamcasts in the frigde for 10 minutes to cool them down.

It's a shame to sell all this Sega stuff just to fetch a PS3 and Resistance Fall of Man copy.
Blogger Ren said...
I also had two dreamcasts. The first one broke and second is now going the same way. Would anyone else recommend putting it into the fridge for 10 minutes.

When I had disk read problems with my dreamcast a cotton bud and some whisky to clean it would "usually" do the job.
Blogger Knifetotheeye said...
I have a copy of Sonic CD that came with my CDX and 4, yes 4 Dreamcasts.
Anonymous Anonymous said...
Does the pc version on its own count?
Blogger Murray said...
I've a PAL Mega CD version and a copy inside some Activision 'Sonic 4 in 1' combo, from the days when PC games came in cardboard boxes. Get in.

...but Sonic the Hedgehog 2 *IS* better.
Anonymous Nebagram said...
Got a PAL version of Sonic CD, though I prefer playing Sonic 2 on my Sega Nomad. Beat that! :-p
Blogger Caleb said...
I own a Sega CD.

I just got Ecco for it at a garage sale for $1.
Blogger P.P.A. said...
Sonic 2 is a dirty piece of crap compared to the mighty Sonic CD (or Sonic 1 even).

Also to all who don't have SCD yet, directly get the Japanese MCD version, it'll save you money and time.
The US version sucks because of the soundtrack, the European one sucks because of 50hz, the PC version doesn't even run (and has the US soundtrack) and the Gems Collection has numerous bugs, errors, unpleasant changes, screwed graphics and yet again the US music.
Blogger Mochi said...
Gentlemen, would you please explain how a man, who has such a collection, BUT SELLS IT ON EBAY, how a man WHO'S PROBABLY GOING TO BUY A F***G PS3 OUT OF THE PRICE OF ALL THOSE MARVELS, how this piece of SHAME can obtain your respect?
That makes only one sense.
You're now supporting SONY.
Shame on you, UKR.

AFTERNOON ARBITRATION:

The PC version doesn't count because it doesn't even run (and has the US soundtrack).

No Saturn therefore automatic fail.
Anonymous Anonymous said...
Tell the fuckwit to sell snatcher seperatly, it's worth 50 notes or so on it's own. And those sms cards do good money as well.
Anonymous Anonymous said...
lol @ Cheesecake.

Credit Crunch forces person to sell cherished Sega collection. When will this f**king misery end?
Anonymous Zobbster said...
Hi - the auction guy here.

I promise you, whatever is made from the sale of this - it's really NOT going to be spent on a PS3.

Do you honestly think I'd be that stupid?

I'm going to spend it on kittens and pillows (at least that's what the girlfriend is being told) - it's really all about paying towards an expensive road tax bill.

Oh and half of it's my brothers, so he gets 50%

Cheers!
Anonymous Anonymous said...
I have it on PC which I can only run with patches bigger than the game itself, does that count?

I brought Sonic CD years ago, I've never ever owned a Mega CD, but the games box art is cool, the instruction manual is a nice solid weight, and I'm able to listen to the soundtrack by putting it on my PC, so best purchase ever!
Anonymous Bander said...
I have PAL Sonic CD.

And Japanese Sonic Gems Collection for PS2 which can be made to have the good soundtrack if you have language options on your PS2. It doesn't feel right though, so I don't think that one should be allowed to count.

Just got Sonic CD last week. Had another one but the intro didn't work, so that doesn't count. It has since been destroyed.

Miles better than Sonic 2. FACT.

Mr. Monkey (not anonymous)
I owned a Mega Cd MK1 and Sonic CD, sold it on eBay 6 months ago... Along with a real RGB scart, and a pair of official WIRELESS 6 button controllers
Have it on the Sonic Gems collection now, but its just not the same...

My Dreamcast however, will never ever be sold, until Dreamcast 2 arrives and of course that will be fully backward compatible
Anonymous Anonymous said...
Mr. Monkey
Forgot to add, PAL version of Sonic CD I sold, and JP version of Sonic Gems for Gamecube (not a devil machine)
Anonymous Anonymous said...
I own Sonic CD

I have a Mega CD and Sonic CD.

I also have 2 Saturns, a Dreamcast, a Megadrive, a GameGear, a Master System and a Master System convertor.

Phantasy Star 1 > Sonic CD :P
Anonymous Apples and Oranges said...
I will own one... Someday... If I find it out of Ebay. :(

And that dude would be cool if he didn't sell it.
Anonymous Anonymous said...
The PAL version of Sonic CD runs fine if you have a 90hz switch on your Mega Drive.

Oh, Sonic 2 is better.
Anonymous Anonymous said...
Ah, shit, haha, I mean 60hz...
Anonymous Anonymous said...
I own it, UK version.

I just looked at this and realised - why does this French Dreamcast thingy have what appears to be either 2 MIDI ports on the back or maybe XLR mic inputs for Karaoke or some such - anyone know?

Blogger Gordon said...
I owned it then sold it to my mate

That's not fair. Why do we need Sonic CD to be cool? I think Sonic 1 is the best.
Anonymous Anonymous said...
I own Sonic CD but my mega CD died.
I own 3 Japanes DC: 2 in Europe to play virtual on against a friend (I keep hoping I get one of these with my next DC purchase) on dual TV - dual DC setup
1 in Japan (currently residing there as it is my masterplan to take over SEGA and build DC 2)
2 European DC
3 modified european saturns
and then of course the rest I am just missing a nomad but I don't see the point in buying that as the battery life is utter crap.

Is there someone interested in the full El dorado set for DC ? I saw one in a shop around my house.
Blogger Knifetotheeye said...
Hey Mr Z-Buffer, the CX-1 Divers Dreamcast insn't French! The French would never come up with something so damn cool!

It's Japanese, and yes, I do own one thank you very much!
Anonymous Naveed said...
do canadian sonic cd owners count?
Anonymous Anonymous said...
I've got it for the PC... does that count?
Anonymous anonymous said...
NO. No it doesn't, as pointed out by Cmdr. Zorg in this very thread. If you can't be fucked to read through 40+ comments then don't fucking post.

So anyway: I own a PAL copy, and it's not as good as Sonic 2.
Anonymous Anonymous said...
Hey JH, Can I have my Sonic CD back? So I can put it on ebay. I also have 2 Mega-CDs. One is broke though as I used the wrong power pack in it! In fact I've got more Sega stuff than that in a box in my back room. Err, I mean, on display in my living room where I use it all the time....
..

Oh and Dreamcasts can usually be made less temperamental by cleaning the contact pads between the stacking motherboards, yes.
Anonymous Anonymous said...
I'm an American that owns Sonic CD. I also own 49 other Sega CD games including both Lunar games.

Also have a DreamCast, Game.com, PSP, and PS2

Here is a list of every game I own:
