Pedant's Corner

Hmm, one asterisk suffixing two completely different sentences? If they've somehow made that work I'll buy it out of sheer principle.

...one does suspect otherwise, though. (Muppets.)

People buy model rain sets to simulate real life. people buy train videogames to simulate real life. In this instance you're playing a simulation of a simulation. Much like this: http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/928855.asp?q=paintball

And lo, I mourn the usurpment of Hornby's own simulator.

No really, I have bought it. You'd be surprised how well programs like this can save time if you're looking to make a real model railway. Granted, I'm not into that stuff now, but all the same, I ask - why was this posted? Compared to the likes of BMX XXX and other 'adult but actually not quite' titles out there, railway simulators and their model equivalents do have a decent enough target audience attached.

Why would anyone buy this absolute shit when you can pick up the vastly superior Trainz 2006* for a pittance, and be able to drive the things FROM INSIDE THE CAB like a proper driver? I mean, Christ, you're paying to 'simulate' a £20 Thomas the Tank Engine AAA battery-powered oval!

*if you really want to build a pretend railway, and Transport Tycoon isn't good enough for you...
Blogger mrplow said...
There's not a person on this Earth that Transport Tycoon "isn't good enough for".

I want this. Hard.

Tell that to Sid Meier, who felt the need to churn out Railroads!. (yes, !. His games are EXCITING!)

Also, the Flying Scotsman on the box there doesn't seem to have a tender to carry coal or water, which means it would be going nowhere fast - LIKE THIS POST! AHAHAHA! Erm.
