Now then, if you're following our suggested read by dates, today should be New Year's Eve, so what better time to look back at the predictions we both made this time last year, and see if we know what we're talking about. Yeah right.

Jon's predictions for 1997:

Quake turns out to be not particularly good
Oops. Bit of a miscalculation from Jon there, as Saturn Quake is a bloody good game, and could easily be described as 'Particularly Good'.

A sequel to NiGHTS is released and it's bloody good
Superstar TV presenter Roy Walker would say that was "A good guess... but not the answer I've got written on my card."

Gary's predictions for 1997:

Quake is stunning, improving on the one-player PC game, but lacking 'net options
Well, it doesn't really improve on the one-player game, but considering the limitations of the Saturn it's a bloody miracle that it's here at all.

Sonic Team dump NiGHTS, and bring Sonic back in spectacular style
Gary's tactic of simply contradicting Jon's predictions works again, with Sonic Jam and Sonic R nailing NiGHTS firmly into his coffin.

Elvis Presley is given back by Alien abductors marked "Return to sender"
Gary stood to win £7,267,157 from the bookmakers if this happened during 1997. Unfortunately the Aliens were too keen on the King's singing to send him back. Yet.

Street Fighter 3 will be converted to the Saturn exclusively, also using the VF3 upgrade cart
It hasn't happened during 1997, but with the 4-Meg cart it looks like it will appear sometime. Another disputed half point for Gary.
